Feisty Review: Sky Bar in Downtown Fredericksburg, VA: A Foodie’s Delight

 I recently had the pleasure of exploring the charming city of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and I must say, it’s fast becoming a foodie destination. The downtown area is filled with an array of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options, making it a great place for culinary adventures.

During my visit, I stumbled upon a unique gem—Sky Bar, perched atop the delightful Italian restaurant Castiglia’s. The first thing that caught my eye was the stunning view. From the rooftop, you get a gorgeous panorama of Downtown Fredericksburg. Sometimes, a change of scenery is all you need, and Sky Bar delivers in spades.

The staff at Sky Bar were fantastic—courteous, polite, and always on their game. While waiting for my table, I grabbed a drink at the bustling bar, which made the wait much more enjoyable.

And now, the food—let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. I started with the Arancini, a true Italian treat. These six golden, delicious rice balls were filled with mozzarella cheese, peas, sauce, and seasoned ground beef, expertly fried to perfection. They were simply divine, and I highly recommend them. The one knock I have on it, is the marinara sauce was sweet, but lacked that robust flavor of garlic and basil. 

Next up, I ventured a bit off the Italian path and ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Fries. I know what you’re thinking, “That’s not Italian food,” and you’re right! But sometimes, it’s nice to try something different. These fries, inspired by the classic Philly Cheesesteak, were a delightful surprise. Crispy fries topped with seasoned beef, onions, and a generous layer of gooey mozzarella cheese—it was the comfort food I didn’t know I needed.

Sky Bar in Downtown Fredericksburg is a must-visit spot. Whether you’re in the mood for traditional Italian fare or something a little different, this place has it all. So, grab a friend, throw on some stretchy pants, and head to Sky Bar for a memorable dining experience!
